Karen originally trained as a Biochemist at the University of Edinburgh, and following some years of research into cancer, genetic disorders and disease diagnostics, her interest in natural therapeutics led her to further her career in the healing sciences.
In 2005 she obtained a First-Class Honours degree in Osteopathic Medicine and Diplomas in Naturopathy and Osteopathy from the British College of Osteopathic Medicine. She then completed further studies in Cranial Osteopathy and Acupuncture and went on to study the Foundation Course of Applied Kinesiology with Tracy Gates in 2006, which inspired her to learn more about the possibilities of AK.
She went on to chair theĀ ICAK UKĀ chapter and organise the UK advanced courses for over 10 years and obtained her Diplomate qualification in 2014. Over the years she has studied advanced AK techniques in areas including Orthomolecular Medicine, Brain Injury and Recovery, Retained Neonatal Reflexes and Learning Difficulties, Visceral Osteopathy, Cranial Nerve Evaluation, Peripheral Nerve Entrapment, Ligament Interlink Technique, Injury Recall Technique, and Psychosomatics.
Tracy Gates

Tracy qualified as an osteopath in 1986, and qualified as a homeopath in 2017. She is a member of the Institute for Functional Medicine.
Having practised for several years using osteopathy and cranial osteopathy, she studied Applied Kinesiology, successfully achieving her diplomate status in 1994.
As part of her diplomate she made a research study into the use of AK in treating Special Needs children. The research was further backed up by a period of time spent at the Peto Institute in Budapest; as well as study at the Institute for Research into Human Potential in Philadelphia.
Today, Tracy lectures in the UK, Russia and Europe.Ā She makes regular presentations of her study projects and ongoing research at various conferences around the world.
Ā Tracy is currently Past Chairperson of the International Council (I.C.) of ICAK, as well as being the International Representative for ICAK-UK.
In 2017, Tracy was awarded the prestigious George Awardā€”the highest award within ICAK ā€“ for her tireless work within the organisation.

- She is a Level 3 Personal Trainer and Advanced Functional Trainer
- She has a Diploma in Functional Performance and a Diploma in Functional Sports Therapy
